In this recent study, Professor Jeff Alberts and Sayuri Kojima conducted quantitative analysis to determine filial preference, displayed through huddling preference, in preweanling rat pups. The researchers found a positive correlation between maternal skin-to-skin (STS) contact and huddling preference. Professor Alberts's research program is focused on describing the functional and mechanistic aspects of the development of species-typical behavior in rodents. Sayuri Kojima is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Dr. Alberts's lab. [More about Professor Jeff Alberts]
The Cognitive Lunch Series is a colloquium for students, faculty, post-docs, and visitors in which researchers present their work and provide a platform for discussion in their field. This well-attended weekly event focuses on providing the attendees a community of scholars who can share results and ideas, and receive constructive feedback from an engaged audience. The Cognitive Lunch Series has been active since the 1960s. This forum enables the community to keep learning about each other and familiarize themselves with their current research and find potential collaborators.
The Psychology Club provides undergraduate students an opportunity to share their interests in Psychology by engaging in social and philanthropic opportunities. By attending lectures, career preparation opportunities, volunteer efforts, and various other events, students are able to connect with other students in the department. There are roughly 30 executive board members that meet weekly and plan events for the club which are open to anyone with an interest in Psychology. In order to become an official member in good standing, a student must attend any two of the Psychology Club events. [More about the Psychology Club]
