¿ To learn to critically read and form hypotheses from studies in the developmental literature ¿ To search for, find, and evaluate literature relevant to some issue ¿ To learn to integrate and relate large sets of findings and theoretical ideas ¿ To gain hands-on experience in research with young children ¿ To learn the professional procedures and standards for testing young children ¿ To evaluate experimental findings and relate them to hypotheses, previous results and theory ¿ To learn to work, communicate, and succeed in a team environment ¿ To learn cutting edge methods in data collection ¿ To reflect on what you have learned that will help you make a difference in the real world We will meet these goals by conducting a research project. The project will examine object play, social interactions, and daily-life activities of one-year old children in two very different contexts: Bloomington IN and an urban fishing village in Chennai India. The children wore head cameras to capture daily activities and interactions. You will each be responsible for two children ( their data)--one from India, one from Bloomington
