Add a second major to your PBS degree

Complete the Application to Change from a Single to a Double Major for the Ph.D. degree. You will be required to attach a goal statement.

Check with the department of the second major to see if they require any other paperwork in addition to the form mentioned above.

Obtain signatures of the faculty advisor in PBS, the faculty advisor or chair in the major you are adding (second major), and the PBS director of graduate studies, currently Dr. Karin James.

Return completed form(s) to the Assistant Director of Graduate Studies (ADGS) in Psychology 122 or to the office of the second major.

The completed form will be sent to the College of Arts and Sciences and from there it will go to the University Graduate School for final approval.

Schedule an appointment with Dr. Karin James, the PBS director of graduate studies. You must meet with her before she will sign the forms.

Return completed forms to the ADGS in Psychology 122. The completed forms will be sent to the College of Arts and Sciences and from there it will go to the University Graduate School for final approval.

If you have not already applied to the other department, adding a major will require going through the admission process involving an application, letters of recommendation, and a personal statement, etc. Departments can share copies of application materials, upon request.
