In this upper-level undergraduate seminar, we will dive more deeply into the role that situations, contexts, and stereotypes play in shaping our daily lives. This course will provide an advanced survey of the field of social psychology (P304 is a prerequisite), and will explore a few of the many questions that social psychologists address in their research. Some of the specific topics to be covered include: 1) how do we make impressions of others?; (2) why do we conform?; and (3) how do stereotypes affect people? The overarching goal of the course is to provide an advanced overview of social psychology, as well as to stimulate creative thinking and research in the area.
